Google Music is at present in Beta and available by invitation only. Right now Google Music does not have a tune shop attached to its cloud storage services, though one is rumored. Now all music must be uploaded to the Google Music Beta servers to be used with the service.
Once uploaded, the music is available to any Internet-connected device for streaming or download. Google now provides storage for up to 20,000 songs free of cost. No pricing has been announced for the service once it comes out of beta.
Apple's iCloud service appears to be the most complete service narrated to date . The free iCloud service guarantees 5GB of free storage and mixes the advantages of the former Apple Mobile Me services, contacts, calendar and mail with iTunes in the cloud. It also can include storage for iOS backups, programmes and a photo stream service that mechanically uploads any pictures you take or import on any of your devices, then wirelessly sends them to all of your devices and computers.
Apple recently revealed the pricing for extra iCloud storage : ten, 20 or 50GB of extra storage will be $2 per gig, each year.
An inventive feature of the iCloud service that'll be exclusive to the iTunes iCloud store is iTunes match. For a $24.99 annual charge (U.S. Only), iTunes will match any song in your library with a high-quality DRM free version if it exists in the iTunes catalogue, which has more than 18,000,000 songs.
It's unclear if Apple will count those iTunes matches against the allocated storage. It could potentially mount up to important savings compared with the pricing for competing services, dependent on the size of your music library.
But not like the services announced by Amazon and Google, the iCloud service does not permit you to stream music. Music must be downloaded from the iCloud service to the device you propose to listen on before it can be played.
Apple iCloud services should be available this fall, simultaneous with the releasing of iOS 5.
