Arch Supports For Flat Feet. Arch Supports For Flat Feet Solves More Than You Think
Folks with flat feet are often reported to suffer from fallen arches. The arch is comprised of the joints of the mid-foot. The foot surprisingly has twenty six bones all linked byligaments, muscles and tendons. To enable you to walk and run the joints of the foot all work in concert in a synchronized sequence. The effective, pain-free operation of the foot demands that each of these bones, ligaments, muscles and tendons work as a group in a sophisticated, synchronised sequence. The arch of the foot and the bones that comprise the arch, play an important role in the correct functioning of the foot.
The heel hits the floor first whenever you take a step. As the center of the foot begins to take up the body weight, the foot rotates in the direction of the floor in a an action known as pronation. During pronation the arch flattens out a tad as the foot rotates in the direction of the floor. Pronation is important simply because it enables the foot to absorb impact. Furthermore, pronation enables all the bones of the mid-foot to unlock and become like a bag of bones. This loosening up of the joints enables the foot to conform to sloping surfaces (uphill, downhill, rocky surface, and so on). As the footstep proceeds the foot experiences a motion known as supination. Supination is considered the opposite of pronation. In supination the foot moves away from the ground and relocks all the joints of the mid-foot to allow the foot to turn into a rigid lever arm as you push-off from the floor and move yourself onward.
Among the most important contributors to the correct operation of the foot is definitely the plantar fascia. The plantar fascia is a band of fiber tissue that connects from the bottom of the heel to the bones of all 5 toes. Stress in the plantar fascia is in charge of preserving the shape of the arch. The plantar fascia performs similar to a spring. It enables the foot to pronate and unlock the bones of the mid-foot and then the spring motion enables the foot to supinate and relock the bones of the foot.
For individuals with flat feet and fallen arches the plantar fascia is sort of a stretched-out spring. It no longer maintains the arch and doesn't allow the foot to supinate and relock the bones of the mid-foot. Folks with flat feet remain pronated all through the step. As a result the foot can not form a hard lever arm to move you ahead. This contributes to quite inefficient functioning of the foot. If the foot isn't capable of executing its job efficiently then the lower leg has to take over the function of moving you forward.
Flat feet can cause quite a few troubles. Folks with flat feet (fallen arches) quite often suffer from heel discomfort known as plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is inflammation in the region where the plantar fascia attaches to the heel. The inflammation is caused by excessive stretching out and tugging at this region of connection. Folks with flat feet often encounter sore, aching, and worn-out lower legs in the end of the day simply because the lower legs have to work much overtime to make up for the inefficient foot function. As a result individuals with flat feet often have quite bulky, large calf muscles simply because the calf muscles have to work so much harder. Folks with flat feet may also have discomfort inside the arch because of the excessive stretching out of the tendons ligaments and muscles that try to compensate for the ineffective plantar fascia.
A lot of people don't realize that flat feet may also trigger troubles using the knees, hips and low back. The feet actually are the foundation of the body.
